LaoWai - Supports Beijing for the Olympic Bid

Laowai´s are signing up the Olympic Flag in a spontanious and unplaned campaign during the football tornament of the IFFC in Beijing to express their support for Beijing`s bid 2008 Olympics.
After the Laowai - supports Beijing for the Olympic Bid campaign was initiated, we started to collect signatures and passed also folders around. After the first 2008 signatures of laowai´s were collected we showed them for an anouncement to the Beijing Youthdaily.
Than our first offical presentation to the public and the media followed at Wangfujing. From now on the public spotted our signing up activity.
After the presentation we were going around to ask foreigners for their support. In this way we organised all the following signing up sessions.
Now every weekend we organized to meet us at tourist attraction like the White Pagode and the Emperors Palace to present our growing red book and than after our presentation to the public we searched for laowai´s.
One weekend we went to the Great Wall. But several times we also had to go to the international airport of Beijing, otherwise we would not have been able to find enough Laowai´s for our campaign.
The xiushuimarket and barstreet are also an hotspot for Laowai´s in Beijing. Tourists students or expats they all like these places and of course we had to come there too.
Great Wall, the White Pagode and of course the Emperors Palace have been the most spectacular places for searching laowai´s .
After our signing up session at the Emperors Palace we had to came to Beijing international airport otherwise we would not have been able to reach our weekly target.
At the end of our campaign many Laowai´s and Chinese kew about us so even when the people were rushing to reach their plane they normaly took a breath to sign up our scroll of support.
Many Laowai´s have been also willing to sign up, when we stood at the entrance of the the International Church of Beijing. But we also went to shopping malls like the the Lufthansa centre.
The campaign, Laowai - supports Beijings Olympic Bid for the 2008 Olympics came to a glorious end. The 120 metre long red book with 12008 signatures is unfolded and presented in the Summerpalace on the 17 Acre Bridge
After a long preparation the huge Laowai banner is unrolled on the Bridge that later will hang in the middle of the 17 Acre Bridge
Than we the Laowai´s unfolded together with Chinese the 120 metre long red book on the 17 Acre Bridge and presented it to the public.
After three month the Laowai signing up campaign is accomplished. All started with an idea and the intention to make the difference, to show the world how foreigners think about Beijing´s bid.
But as we wanted to keep our word, we brought all these signatures to Moscow and presented them on the street´s in Moscow to the Media and the IOC.
After Beijing succeded we handed over the red book to the Chinese Olympic Committee. And after a worldwide circulating exposition concerning the application of Beijing`s Bid to the Olympic Games 2008 was the red book delivered to the Olympic Museum of China.
